If you've been following along with the blog, you know I've been deep in Aladdin-retelling mode lately — books, quizzes, character studies, all of it. So naturally, that's bled into my actual shopping habits too.
I started pulling together pieces that fit that whole "started with nothing, ended up looking like you were born into it" arc, and figured I'd just show you what ended up in my cart instead of keeping it to myself. Split into two "eras," because the whole appeal of this trope is the before-and-after.

The "Street Rat" Era
Simple. Practical. A little rough around the edges, in the best way.
- Lightweight gold huggie hoops — small, simple, the kind of earrings you forget you're wearing. A good "everyday" piece before things get fancier.
- Dainty layered choker necklace — understated, barely-there gold, the opposite of a statement piece.
- Simple gold chevron ring — thin, minimal, easy to stack or wear alone.
- Classic canvas or linen tote — practical, worn-in looking, the "I own one bag and it does everything" energy.
- Neutral oversized button-down — effortless, a little borrowed-looking, the foundation of the whole "didn't try that hard" look.
The "Royalty" Era
Bold. Layered. Zero subtlety, and that's the whole point.
- Chunky gold statement hoops — the kind of earrings that show up in a room before you do.
- Chunky gold choker necklace — bold, a little regal, borderline costume-adjacent in the best way.
- 14K gold-plated chunky statement ring — big, a little over-the-top, exactly what you want on a hand that's used to holding power now.
- Gold cubic zirconia tennis bracelet — sparkly without being tacky, the "I didn't earn this through hard work, I earned it through main character energy" bracelet.
- Layered gold necklace set — multiple chains at once, stacked like you've got more jewelry than you know what to do with.
- Flowing jewel-toned maxi dress or kaftan — rich color, dramatic movement, main-character-walking-into-a-room material.
- Oversized statement earrings with geometric texture — the "I'm not hiding anymore" earring.
- Satin or silk scarf as a hair accessory — adds a little old-world opulence without going full costume.
- Gold cuff bracelet, worn solo or stacked — simple but commanding, a nice transition piece between the two eras.
So that's the cart — or at least the version of it I'm willing to admit to publicly. Half of this stuff is genuinely in my actual shopping cart right now, and half of it is aspirational, if we're being honest.
Which era are you shopping for right now — street rat or full royalty? Let me know in the comments, and if you end up grabbing any of these, tag me, I'd love to see it styled.
